Terms of Service

Last updated: September 1, 2026

1. Scope

These terms apply to the use of unpii at unpii.me. Provider: Mario Christ, c/o Impressumservice Dein-Impressum, Stettiner Str. 41, 35410 Hungen, Germany (see Imprint).

2. Service description

unpii is a service for detecting and masking personally identifiable information in text and documents. The base service is free to use; extended features and higher usage limits are reserved for paid plans. Current plans, prices, and limits are listed under Pricing.

Submitted text is processed in memory only and immediately discarded - no storage, logging, or sharing of text content takes place.

3. Paid plans and payment processing

Paid plans are sold through an external payment processor acting as Merchant of Record (seller of record). The purchase contract for a paid plan is concluded with that provider. The specific provider is shown during checkout and will be named here once paid plans become available. That provider's terms, including its withdrawal policy, govern the purchase, payment, subscription term and renewal, invoicing, withdrawal, and refunds; they are shown during checkout.

These terms, by contrast, govern access to the service: as long as a paid subscription is active, the plan-bound features and limits are available in the user account.

You can cancel the subscription using the cancellation form. A cancellation in text form, for example by email to the address given in the Imprint, is equally sufficient.

Deleting your user account ends a running subscription immediately. In that case, amounts already paid for the remaining term are not refunded; the cancellation rights above remain unaffected.

When a paid plan ends, the account falls back to the free plan; plan-bound features and limits are no longer available.

Price changes never apply retroactively to a running billing period.

4. Availability

The service is offered without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Maintenance and technical outages may occur. This also applies to paid plans; statutory rights remain unaffected.

5. Acceptable use

  • No automated mass processing in the anonymous tier.
  • No processing of content whose creation or distribution violates applicable law.
  • The AI model's detection quality is not guaranteed. The user remains responsible for the completeness and correctness of the anonymization.

6. Liability

The provider is liable without limitation for damages caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health, for damages under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and to the extent of any guarantee assumed.

In cases of simple negligence, the provider is liable only for the breach of a material contractual obligation. Material contractual obligations are those whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place, and on whose observance the contracting party regularly relies and may rely. In such cases, liability is limited to the damage foreseeable at the time the contract was concluded and typical for this type of contract.

Otherwise, liability for simple negligence is excluded.

The provider's strict liability for defects already present when the contract was concluded (Section 536a (1) alt. 1 of the German Civil Code) is excluded; the paragraphs above remain unaffected.

This English version is a translation for convenience. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.

7. Data processing

See Privacy Policy.

8. Changes

The provider reserves the right to update these terms at any time. The current version is always available on this page.
